life and mindset

Mindset is defined as the set of attitudes and beliefs that we hold. Mindset is crucially important because our attitudes and beliefs affect everything we do, feel, think, and experience. It affects our life. Our mindset influences our perceptions and how we move through the world.

Research shows that mindset plays a significant role in determining life’s outcomes. By understanding, adapting and shifting your mindset, you can improve your health, decrease your stress and become more resilient to life’s challenges.

With a fixed mindset you believe intelligence, talent, and other qualities are innate and unchangeable. If you’re not good at something, you typically think you will never be good at it. With a growth mindset you believe intelligence and talent can be developed with practice and effort.

The type of mindset a person has can affect their level of happiness. A person with a growth mindset will reveal a passion for learning, whereas a person with a fixed mindset hungers for the approval of others. People with a growth mindset believe that intelligence and creativity, as well as things like love and friendship, can be grown and cultivated with practice and time. They are less likely to be discouraged by failure because they reform challenges as learning opportunities.

Start to pay attention to the words you speak, even the words in your mind. If your words are negative, the results may also be. Replace negative thoughts with more positive ones to build a growth mindset. Replace judgment with acceptance. Think about how you can change your words and thoughts in a way that will be helpful and encourage you to grow.

It is so important to enjoy the process. Start viewing failure not as a sign of inability but as part of the process of learning. Nobody starts out on any endeavor being the perfect example of the goal. Also, the end product loses its value if you didn’t enjoy the process.

Change your mindset from 'I can't do it' to 'I can't do it yet.' That way you give yourself the space to learn and get better without negative self talk.

Positive mindset

A positive mindset is the tendency to focus on the good things in life rather than the bad. People with a positive mindset may use strategies like gratitude to identify the good things and increase their positive emotions. Their attitudes are generally optimistic and they tend to expect the best.

A positive mindset can be great for our well-being and even help us to be more successful. In fact, the 'broaden and build' theory of positive emotion suggests that positive emotions build on themselves, eventually leading to things like professional and relationship success.

Keep your inner peace in an increasingly busy and continuously changing world

Do you feel trapped sometimes in a busy and overwhelming professional and/or private life? You feel like you HAVE to do everything and are continuously switched "on".

At Datacolor we do know these past few months and years haven't been easy. Covid, war, inflation, crisis,... We hear you and care about you. If you are not feeling good, know that you can talk to your line manager or HR. If there is something we can do to help you, let us know.

Here are some tips to slow down and find your inner peace.

Breathe consciously

When we are confronted with a lot different tasks and to do's, this affects the way we breathe. Accelerated breathing causes you to exhale too much carbon dioxide, leaving little carbon dioxide in the blood. Which in turn can cause shortness of breath and a feeling of being agitated. Conscious breathing helps you to keep your body healthy.

Take breaks on a regular basis and focus on your breathing. This will increase your concentration and efficiency. Take a look at the section on heart coherence training on the page "Stress management" or use the "Relaxation" page for more exercises.

Be mild and friendly

We often have high demands towards others and even more towards ourselves. Be aware of your inner critic and choose to be a little kinder. You can make mistakes, you don't always have to perform 100%.

Think differently

Try to talk and think more in terms of:

"I want this"

"I am able to do this"

"I can do this"

instead of "I have to do this", will give you a feeling of freedom.
